Rio Oro II

Rio Oro II

Project Rio Oro II is a 5,600sft above-grade modern lakefront residence designed for a prominent waterfront site on Lake Norman.

he architectural composition is defined by clean horizontal lines, layered flat-roof forms, and a restrained material palette that emphasizes clarity, proportion, and connection to the surrounding landscape. The exterior combines light stone, smooth stucco, warm vertical wood cladding, and dark metal detailing to create a contemporary yet inviting expression. Large rectilinear openings and carefully framed volumes establish a strong visual rhythm across the façade, while deep overhangs and recessed glazing introduce depth and solar control. On the lake-facing elevation, the home opens fully to its setting through expansive floor-to-ceiling glass and large sliding wall systems that connect the primary living spaces directly to outdoor terraces. A covered outdoor living area extends from the interior, providing sheltered space for dining and relaxation while maintaining uninterrupted views of the water. The landscape design is integrated with the architecture to create a resort-like waterfront experience. Layered terraces step down the sloped site toward an infinity-edge pool and lower basin, with additional outdoor zones including lounge areas, a hot tub, and raised gardens.
